Changes to the building regulations - Coming into effect 6th April 2014
The New Approved Part L document - (Conservation of fuel and power) comes into force on 6th April 2014, this is likely to have a big impact on new builds particularly traditional Oak framed buildings with infill panels. As the CO2 target emission rate is to be increased by a further 6%, which will result in buildings needing to be more thermal efficient and air tight.
There are transitional provisions in place for the change over to the new approved documents these will be as follows:-

Where an application has been submitted
and building work commenced on site before April 6th 2014 then the
provisions of Part L will not apply and;
Where an application is submitted before 6th
April 2014 then the provisions of Part L will not apply, as long as work
commences on site before 6th April 2015.
